The company provides 24/7/365 multi-platform I.T. private cloud and hybrid environments as well as hosting, managed services, disaster recovery, BuaaS, DRaaS and high availability in our own data center as well as 3rd party data centres. Mid-Range has a JD Edwards ERP sales and consulting services practice second to none and is an Oracle Partner. Mid-Range is an IBM Platinum Partner for hardware, software and services and an HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, VMWare and Veeam Gold Service Provider. We also provide field services for these vendors’ products and services.

About the Role:

Role:  I.T. Solution and Services Architect

This position is a senior level role focusing on IT solution presales / sales architecture for Mid-Range’s recurring revenue, project services and reseller offerings.  Role requires individual to work very closely with Sales Representatives, Mid-Range technical resources and our Clients to gain requirements, design, develop, package and assist in the architecture and sale of solutions that generate recurring revenue, project services, and resales for Mid-Range in the designated areas below.  In addition, where possible and under direction of a project manager or project leader, the individual may be responsible to assist onboarding solutions after they are sold.


  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in IT solution architecture, design and implementation with relation to:
    • T Infrastructure architecture and solutions
    • Hosting and colocation considerations
    • Disaster recovery and high availability
    • IT Services – project and managed services
  • Proven experience understanding and solution development in information technology:
    • Thorough understanding of business, conceptual, logical and physical architectural models
    • Working knowledge of Intel hardware, SANs, tape libraries, and relative networking
    • Strong understanding of virtualization technologies and Cloud computing concepts
    • System backup and recovery concepts and products (Veeam expertise would be an asset)
    • System security and networking concepts and design
    • File and database management concepts
    • General knowledge with ERP application deployment an asset (e.g. JDE, etc.)
    • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain documentation
  • Ability to attain Canadian government security clearance.
  • Practical experience and knowledge of public clouds (Azure and/or AWS) would be an asset.


  • University Degree / College Diploma in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications related to the above products and related qualifications e.g. manufacturer or industry certification for VMWare, Veeam, Microsoft, etc. are an asset.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • Ability to drive and use of the employee’s own car is required. With possibly one or two exceptions per year, travel will only be required within the province of Ontario.
  • Majority of work will be carried out primarily at Mid-Range office locations and you are expected to be in a Mid-Range office each business day, primarily in an office and datacentre setting and on customer sites as required for sales calls and project management meetings. Activities mostly carried out during business hours, but role does require weekend or nighttime work as business requires.  Occasional irregular hours may be required based on customer projects/deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

A.   Presales I.T. Solutions Architecture:

  • Assist multiple sale representatives and technical personnel in moving an opportunity through the sales cycle from concept phase through the logical and final physical and logical design of a solution (with required services)
  • Architect solution(s), confirm hardware and software (per vendor), including possible integration components for the complete solution
  • Discuss and propose solution offerings to Clients including both IT and LOB staff on possible deployment of infrastructure at Mid-Range hosting sites and use of Mid-Range resources either locally or remote
  • Assist with development of content for proposals and presentations working with Sales Representative
  • Participate in the onboarding and solution build of the ‘sold’ solution
  • Maintain and develop business relationships with suppliers and distributors for related equipment and software products. Become knowledgeable and up-to-date on tools and techniques provided by vendors.

B.  Special Projects / Business Development / Technical Support:

  • Take on research including product/solution development, costing and options for development of new Mid-Range services offerings
  • Work with sales and marketing teams and required technical persons to derive and develop Mid-Range service offerings and promote them through presentations, sales calls, and vendor relations where required.
  • Provide occasional (or for special projects), technical, hands-on support services for x86 / SAN / network projects in support of our Technical Services team
